Our goals, targets and results

In the People area, we have three goals:

  • To achieve an improved gender balance.
  • That our employees agree we have a work culture of respect, fairness and openness. This should be higher than the global benchmark and continuously increase. It is measured by an employee survey conducted every two years.
  • That our employees agree there is opportunity to learn and grow in the company. This should be higher than the global benchmark and continuously increase. It is measured by the employee survey.

In 2020, the percentage of women in the company increased from 19.8 to 20 percent.

The employee survey results for 2021 will be shared across the entire organization, with each department expected to make an action plan for improvement on the results. The level at which employees agreed with the two statements in 2019 was above the global benchmark.

Group focus areas icon Ethics

In the Ethics area we have five goals:

  • 100 percent of our employees should sign our Business Code of Practice, or code of conduct.
  • 100 percent of our employees should be trained in the Business Code of Practice.
  • 100 percent of our managers in risk countries should lead trainings in the Business Code of Practice.
  • 100 percent of our significant suppliers should sign the Business Code of Practice.
  • 100 percent of our significant distributors should sign the Business Code of Practice.

For the employee-related ethics goals, we achieved 99 percent on each target in 2020. For significant suppliers we achieved 93 percent signing our code of conduct and for significant distributors we achieved 84 percent signing.

In the Products and Service area we have one Group target:

that 100 percent of our projects for new or redesigned products started 2020 or later should have a target set for reduced carbon impact. The first year of reporting is in 2021.Each division must also set a target for the percentage of its projects that will achieve significantly reduced carbon impact. A significant reduction is at least a 5 percent reduction in carbon impact in comparison with the most comparable product. The divisional targets are followed up annually internally.

In the Safety and well-being area we have two goals.

One is that employees agree with the statement that the company takes a genuine interest in employees’ well-being. This should continuously increase. In 2019 the degree to which employees agreed with the statement was at 69. The 2021 employee survey will give a comparison figure. There was no survey in 2020.

Another Group goal is to have a balanced safety pyramid. This means that reports of near misses should be higher than reports of minor injuries and reports of minor injuries should be higher than recordable injuries. After setting the goal in 2018 we achieved it in both 2019 and 2020.

Recordable injuries are defined as those in which the employee has experienced any of the following: the employee has lost consciousness, is restricted from working, requires medical treatment, has an injury diagnosed by a physician, where recovery to pre-injury fitness takes more than six months, or the employee dies as a result of the incident.

In the Environment area, we have four goals:

  • Continuous reduction of waste, which decreased from 597 kg in relation to cost of sales in 2019 to 581 kg in relation to cost of sales in 2020.
  • Continuous reduction of water consumption, which remained stable at 7.2 cubic meters in relation to cost of sales from 2019 to 2020.
  • A 50% reduction in the CO2 emissions from our energy in operations and transport of goods, in relation to the cost of sales, with the base year of 2018.  In 2020, the CO2 emissions from energy in operations and transport of goods in relation to cost of sales decreased by 12%.  In relation to the baseline of 2018, the total reduction achieved was 28%.
  • A continuous increase in the percentage of significant suppliers with an approved environmental management system. This increased from 28 to 30 percent from 2019 to 2020.
