Safety and well-being
At Atlas Copco, we work continuously to reinforce our culture of safety and well-being. Our high standards and targets reinforce these efforts.
Our safety and well-being targets
We are committed to ensuring that our employees and others affected by our operations work in a way that contributes to their safety and wellbeing. Transparent reporting is encouraged and helps build awareness of risks and safe behavior preventing injuries in the workforce.
Safety and well-being are core priorities at Atlas Copco. We pursue this by engaging everyone in eliminating hazards, reducing occupational health and safety risks and promoting the immediate reporting of near-misses, incidents, and risk observations

Following up our progress
Interest in employees' well-being
Progress is measured by continuous safety reporting and follow-up, and in the employee engagement survey every two years. The target is that an increasing part of employees should agree that Atlas Copco takes a genuine interest in their well-being. The results from the 2021 employee survey confirm this.
The safety pyramid
To further strengthen the safety work Atlas Copco measures progress by using a safety pyramid, with the target that the pyramid should be balanced. This means that more reports of risk observations than near misses, more near misses than minor injuries, and more or equal reports of minor injuries relative to recordable injuries are reported. The approach supports transparent reporting, risk awareness and encourages safe behavior to decrease risks and ultimately prevent workforce injuries. In 2022, the result was in line with this target.

How our targets relate to the UN Global Goals
Global Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth
We focus on ethics, safety and well-being for our employees and business partners. Atlas Copco requires all business partners to comply with the Code of Conduct. Child labor or forced labor is not tolerated and compliance is assessed and audited. Atlas Copco ensures the right to collective bargaining and expects the same of our business partners. We aim for a balanced safety pyramid, meaning a reporting of more near misses than minor injuries and more minor injuries than recordable (major) injuries.
