Your role

The Beyond Air Task Force is responsible for developing and maintaining new compression technologies for gas applications. Developments can start from a blank paper to upgrading current products as well as searching for innovations together with our internal customers, R&D-cells and external parties.

The team oversees the entire process from product strategy, design and testing up to operations and customer delivery.

In order to expand our technical and testing capabilities, we are now looking for a “Validation and Calculation Engineer”. This hybrid role combines hands-on testing responsibilities with analytical and simulation-based calculations to support product development, validation, and continuous improvement.

In this exciting role, you:

  • Perform engineering calculations to support design decisions, including thermodynamic, fluid dynamic, and mechanical analyses.
  • Analyze and process customer requests with respect to special gas applications.
  • Develop and maintain analytical and numerical models to simulate compressor behaviour for gases.
  • Prepare and execute test campaigns for compressor prototypes, including defining objectives, timelines, and testing sequence.
  • Apply critical thinking and engineering knowledge to define relevant test conditions and boundary cases.
  • Use test data to calibrate and validate models, ensuring alignment between theoretical predictions and experimental results.
  • Operate and monitor prototype tests hands-on, ensuring accurate data collection and safe execution.
  • Troubleshoot issues during testing and adapt procedures or setups as needed to ensure meaningful results.

In this position you will report to the Beyond-Air Task Force Leader.

  • The successful candidate has a master in Electromechanical/Energy/Mechatronics engineering or equivalent in experience.
  • Extensive thermodynamics knowledge
  • Programming capabilities
  • You have a very good knowledge of English. An additional language is considered as a plus

Job location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our (insert organization here) in Antwerp, Belgium (BE).
