August 14, 2013

Stockholm, Sweden, August 14, 2013: Atlas Copco has won a contract to deliver compressors to Russian chemical and fertilizer specialist JSC Acron. The order is valued at around MEUR 13 (MSEK 113).
Acron, one of the world’s largest fertilizer companies, chose Atlas Copco’s Gas and Process division to construct and deliver two high-pressure integrally-geared centrifugal compressors for carbon dioxide (CO2) processing at the company’s plant in Veliky Novgorod, Russia. The order was booked at the end of the second quarter, and the compressors will be delivered in 2015.

“The order of these technically very advanced compressors further strengthens our presence in the strategic Russian market,” said Stephan Kuhn, President of Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique business area. “We have worked closely with Acron to develop a solution specially tailored to their requirements. Thanks to our innovative design these compressors will deliver high customer productivity.”

The compressors will control the Acron plant’s entire flow range and will replace older piston compressors, significantly cutting energy use and reducing downtime for service and maintenance. Acron will rely on the compressors to supply CO2that is used to produce urea, one of the main components of nitrogen-release fertilizer.
