This summer, BeaconMedaes is offering a full-time Technical Sales Engineering Internship.  The intern will have the opportunity to learn from our Sales, Marketing, Service, and Engineering teams while supporting the setup and implementation of methods to analyze existing Instrument Air systems in hospitals across the U.S.

The role will involve data collection and system performance evaluations, which will be used to identify opportunities to enhance system performance, refine sizing criteria, and/or explore alternative compressor technologies. At the end of the internship, the intern will present their findings, conclusions, and recommendations to the management team.

This summer internship is located in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Responsibilities are focused on the following:

Instrument Air Systems Engineering & NFPA 99  — 20%

  • Learn the fundamentals of medical gas and vacuum rotating equipment used in hospitals
  • Develop an understanding of instrument air compressor systems and applicable NFPA 99 requirements
  • Become familiar with current system designs, sizing approaches, and compressor technologies used by BeaconMedaes

Installed Base Data Collection & Cross‑Functional Engagement — 35%

  • Develop a structured approach to collect data on installed instrument air systems across U.S. hospitals
  • Work with Sales, Service, Marketing, and Engineering teams to gather system configuration, runtime, demand, warranty, and service history data
  • Organize and document collected information for analysis

Data Analysis & System Performance Evaluation — 25%

  • Analyze collected data to identify usage trends, patterns, and common system characteristics
  • Evaluate actual system performance versus existing design and sizing assumptions
  • Summarize findings in a clear and technically sound manner

Engineering Recommendations & Technology Assessment — 15%

  • Use analytical results to develop recommendations for potential updates to instrument air system sizing criteria
  • Evaluate the suitability of alternative compressor technologies based on observed operating conditions

Results Documentation & Management Presentation — 5%

  • Compile conclusions and recommendations into a professional summary
  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation to the BeaconMedaes senior management team

To succeed, you will need

Skills/Experience:

•    Strong analytical, organizational, and attention to details skills
•    Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
•    Proficient with Microsoft 365 programs (ie. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
•    Excellent communications skills both verbal and written
•    Self-starter who can work independently, as well as serve as a valuable member of a team
•    Ability to follow directions and adhere to team processes for completing assigned tasks

Work Schedule:



•    Students should be able to commit to 40 hours/week employment during the internship program and be able to work on-site at our Rock Hill, SC facility.
•    Eligible to work in the United States without company assistance.
 

Education:

       •  Rising Junior or Senior as an Undergraduate student at an accredited college, university, or technical/vocational institution.

          2 to 4 years of educational experience in mechanical or industrial (or related) engineering coursework.

       •   Minimum GPA of 3.0 or above.
