Your role:
To ensure that all who work at the Eastbourne Product Company are able to carry out their roles safely and with minimum adverse impact on the environment. To provide support and guidance to the Eastbourne site management teams on Safety, Health and Environmental related matters. In so doing, ensure all compliance, legislative, safety and environmental responsibilities are complied with.
Ensure that the SHE Management System set out in Risk Control Elements RCE00 through to RCE28 is effectively implemented at the Eastbourne site.
Strengthen the Eastbourne Product Company SHE Team demonstrating strong leadership to ensure effective recruitment and selection, objective setting, and development for a multi-skilled SHE team.
Identify the future talent pipeline including succession planning. Manage by coaching, mentoring and developing the team to solve ever more ambitious challenges.
Work with local management to manage a long-term sustainable approach to the assessment of all risks, the recording of such risks and the swift introduction of measures to minimize such risks in safety, health and environmental matters, both preventative and protective while working towards an integrated SHEQ approach.
Develop and provide training and awareness to affected employees/management.
Ensure that the design and implementation of all SHE programmes are successful in involving all employees; especially in informing, development and training.
Coordinate incident/hazard investigations and corrective actions. Take the lead role in investigations into serious incidents.
Ensure that local management operate a streamlined and effective SHE reporting system which will allow the monitoring of site SHE performance against leading and lagging indicators and the reporting into GPS for “people” and “sustain” reporting.
Conduct audits and inspections to assure compliance to company and regulatory procedures. Prepare and maintains necessary regulatory documentation and reports.
Chair regular Safety, Health and Environmental Performance reviews, and provide input and advice, including an annual management review.
Provide technical/Engineering support in SHE areas for assigned areas and projects.
Plan and perform occupational health surveys.
Support line managers in the execution of their SHE responsibilities.
Support business area sustainability programs through local initiatives and reporting
Lead any accident/incident investigation and report to authorities and/or group sustainability team as necessary
Supporting Business Continuity activities and reporting.
Take a key role in the emergency evacuation plan to ensure compliance measures are met.
Provide the expertise to review and update Significant Impact Register in respect of the ISO14001 accreditation.
To suceed, you will need:
Diploma or NEBOSH Certificate in health and safety management and/or Environmental Diploma or Certificate or equivalent
Must have at least 5 years SHE experience in a manufacturing organisation with awareness of the practical application of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 standards
Able to demonstrate ability to improve process, write/re-write procedural documents and deliver training.
Must be a good communicator and have excellent fluency in spoken and written English, must have a good grasp of Microsoft office applications. Ability to make decisions based on a knowledge of the business and an understanding of the business impact. Must be able to inspire and motivate the team and demonstrate strong influencing skills.
Strong communication skills, organisational awareness and impact and influencing skills are a prerequisite.
Assertive, diplomatic with a good appreciation of business and commercial issues.
Report writing, presentation and training skills.
Self-starter, effective time manager and effective line manager.
Membership of professional body IEMA, IOSH preferred.
