Your Role

Mission:

Your mission is to lead, coach and motivate a team of mechanical, electrical/control and electronic engineering team to develop new products on Light Automation for Atlas Copco with a strong focus on screw-feeding solutions. You must also ensure that the best technical solutions with the highest quality standards are provided to our global customers in terms of screw feeding and other automation products.  

As the member of Innovation Center Asia management team, you will be fully involved on our strategy definition and execution so as to ensure our product portfolio on Light Automation are competitive in China/Global market with fast speed and high-quality standard.

Major responsibilities:

Driving the success of Light Automation Product Portfolio/ R&D

• Lead and coach the design team based in China to successfully develop competitive products which are innovative, easy for production, easy for customization and easy for service according to R&D product roadmap and projects plan.
• Manage design process from benchmarking to concept design, definition drawings, specifications to suppliers, solutions proposal, prototype realization, testing, final validation and manufacturing in cooperation with operations team.
• Ensure new products designed are in line with certification, international standards, regulations, safety and quality requirements, including intellectual property protection.
• Ensure right documentation is delivered to customer, including product safety information & clear operator’s instructions for installation, use and repair.
• Design of new light automation products, incl. creation of 2D/3D drawing, pneumatic drawing, electric flow-chart, documentation, validation, technical support and training.
• Closely collaborate with operations and supply chain to guarantee the right cost, lead time and quality.
• Closely collaborate and utilize head quarter resource on industry design, product compliance etc.
• Be the member of SteerCo in China light automation development projects. Actively collaborate with the global Automation/Total workstation SteerCo and our Customer Center China to support the roadmap, voice of customer and understanding customer insight.
• Planning, monitoring, and control of R&D budget.
• Support supply chain to develop suppliers and secure supply chain.
• Support service to grow competencies for efficient installation & commissioning.

 
To succeed, you will need  

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications and Required Experience):  

• Minimum B.S. degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering. Master’s degree will be a plus.
• Min. 5 years professional experience in a design/manufacturing environment with standard product and customized solution.
• Experience in leading, coaching and motivating a team
• Proficient knowledge in 3D-CAD.
• Strong Mechanical theory and pneumatic knowledge, Basic heat treatment knowledge, Steel part and Aluminum part surface treatment knowledge, and Raw material selection
• Machinery sequence diagram/Flow chart is a plus.
• Strong mechanical design aptitude that enables the candidate to visualize and implement concepts
• Experience with tightening/spindle applications and/or screw-feeding systems, Vibration conveying products is a plus
• Experience in industrial/automotive assembly, experience is a plus.
• Ability to handle multiple projects at one time
• Chinese and English needs to be fluent and technical (both spoken and written)
