Atlas Copco Group strengthens its logistics presence in Limburg with a new logistics center
On September 4, 2026, Power Tools Distribution, part of Atlas Copco Group, officially opened its new logistics center in Bilzen-Hoeselt, Belgium. In the presence of Governor Jos Lantmeeters and Mayor Bruno Steegen, the ribbon was cut for the upgraded site, representing a significant investment in the logistical future of the region.
The investment includes an expansion of the existing warehouse, the installation of an automated warehouse, the construction of new offices, and a meeting and training center. In total, the logistics center has been expanded by 15,000 m², including 10,000 m² of warehouse space.
Automated warehouse boosts efficiency
One of the highlights of the project is the new automated warehouse. Goods are stored in 60,000 bins, while 32 robots retrieve the required parts and bring them to ergonomic picking stations where employees process customer orders.
Advanced systems automatically fold boxes, apply identification and shipping labels, add packing slips, weigh shipments, and seal the packages. Thanks to full SAP integration, parcels are then routed via conveyor systems to the correct shipping locations for delivery to customers worldwide.
Smart skylights with mirrors distribute natural daylight deep into the warehouse, improving working conditions and employee comfort.
A modern workplace for employees
The 270 employees of the Swedish technology group have now moved into their new work environment. The office concept combines ergonomic workstations with a variety of flexible and open collaboration areas.
A new meeting and training center supports knowledge sharing and employee development.
Both the warehouse and office areas feature several fika spaces where colleagues can meet informally.
The building also includes an indoor garden and a spacious outdoor terrace for breaks and lunch.

Built sustainably with the future in mind
Sustainability played a central role in the design and construction of the logistics center. The building uses geothermal heating and is equipped with solar panels. A green roof contributes to insulation and natural cooling. Rainwater is collected and reused for sanitary purposes or returned to the ground through a sustainable drainage system. Energy-efficient LED lighting with sensors further reduces energy consumption.
These measures support Atlas Copco Group’s climate ambitions and its scientifically based emissions reduction targets.
Logistics center of excellence for three business areas
Power Tools Distribution serves as a logistics center of excellence for products and spare parts from three of Atlas Copco Group’s four business areas: Industrial Technique, Power Technique, and Vacuum Technique. Logistics activities for Compressor Technique are managed from Wilrijk.
From Bilzen-Hoeselt, customers across nearly every industry worldwide receive machines, spare parts, and components. These include pneumatic tools for aircraft assembly, spare parts for construction generators, and vacuum pumps for the semiconductor industry.
