“Historically, this is a male-dominated industry,” says Vandenhoudt. "The role of service technician is often associated with physical strength. Yet in 2018, we decided to focus our recruitment policies on women."

Atlas Copco Group has rewritten job postings to gender-neutral language which is essential to appeal to a wider audience. Testimonials and internship programs have also proven effective means of attracting and retaining women.

Male colleagues have traded their skepticism for enthusiasm. Diversity within teams is perceived as positive and contributes to a more pleasant working environment.
