Low energy consumption has always been one of the main drivers of our R&D efforts, even long before we talked about CO2 footprint. We now put energy efficiency in the context of our carbon reduction targets, which gives it an even stronger focus directly linked to our environmental KPIs.
Our greenhouse gas abatement products have been a key strategic growth area for our business over several decades. These abatement products are designed specifically to minimize the emission of greenhouse and other hazardous gases at our customer sitesals.
There is still significant scope for CO2 footprint reduction through continuous improvement in our core mechanism designs, intelligent utilization modes and innovative, energy-efficient system designs. A combination of these improvements with new breakthrough mechanisms and abatement developments will ensure the continuation of our energy reduction journey. There will also be increased focus on the conversion of our remaining fossil-fuel-fired abatement to electric-powered abatement.
Our objective is to contribute to lowering the CO2 footprint of our customers’ operations AND reducing total cost of ownership at the same time. Carbon reductions will become a more important differentiator as more and more companies publicly commit to more ambitious targets.
It is clear that by understanding the customers’ application, proposing the right solution, monitoring the process and delivering the right service, we can indeed lower the footprint. We now also offer some improved energy efficiency upgrades through our service programs.
Reducing the CO2 from our operations has been a strategic focus for the last few years, and we have made considerable improvements since then. Looking ahead, we are planning to continue this journey by setting even more ambitious goals.
Privately, I do a lot of small things, because a change in consumer behavior will change industry over time. The topic needs to be on top of the personal and business agenda.
