JOB DESCRIPTION / MISSION
As Mechatronics Engineer, you will be a member of the Project Team at Motor Vehicle Industry Business Line.
The Project Team is providing the tightening solution to the customer (from single station with assembly tool to more complex projects with jigs, positioning, vision system, semi or full automation, and related software).
Your mission is to make the system design / conceptual design of the tightening equipment / reaction Jig, and successfully deliver it to the customers. You will be responsible the scope definition, detail mechanical design, conceptual electrical design, and installation to the customer.
You will have the communication with colleagues in our headquarter in Sweden and our application center in China.
Our main target customer is Japanese OEMs, Tier1, Heavy Truck & Bus, and Machine Tool Builders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand the customer requirement, consider the concept, define the scope.
- Understand the work environment (e.g. layout, clearances, operator work area/flow, production speed, etc.) and the customer’s basic design spec. Do the field survey if necessary.
- Make the mechanical conceptual design of the tightening equipment and reaction Jig.
- Make the electrical conceptual design and work flow for the tightening equipment.
- Make the detail mechanical design after we got an order. At this time, it is required to implement various calculations such as strength of materials / forces / stresses, and the ergonomic / safety design.
- Ensure the completion of the system setup for the designed equipment with external electrical design engineer.
- Implement the final setup at the customer site.
- Ensure the feasibility of the conceptual design by communicating to internal and external parties (e.g. headquarter, project manager, field service engineer, product marketing, sales, supplier, etc…).
- Understand the automation products, automation solution, vision system and global reference which Atlas Copco has internally.
- Handle several projects at the same time.
- Implement a process of continuous improvement
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience of the Industrial production equipment.
- Or 5+ years of mechanical design / electrical design experience / equipment setup experience of the Industrial production equipment.
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience with using 3D CAD.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / EDUCATION
- PC skill is a must
- 3D CAD skill is must
- Basic knowledge of Mechatronics is must
- Basic electrical design and PLC knowledge are must
- Electrical design skill and PLC programming skill are plus
- Driver’s license is plus
- University degree preferred.
LANGUAGE
- Fluent Japanese - Business level English
