Caroline Lindblad is studying for her MSc in industrial engineering and management, with a major in integrated production at KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.
Caroline did her internship project with the Atlas Copco Construction Technique business area, at the Road Construction Equipment division’s factory located in Wardenburg, Germany. She is currently busy with her thesis project, also at Atlas Copco Road Construction Equipment in Germany.
Road Construction Equipment manufactures roller and asphalt pavers, and the factory employs 250 people in Wardenburg, northern Germany. “Lean” (i.e. the systematic method for the elimination of waste within a manufacturing process) is squarely in focus at Atlas Copco, and in her project, Caroline collected information from the first implementation of “Lean supply chain” at the Nasik factory in India, as well as finding input from other lean projects in the Atlas Copco Group using lean books, photos and drawings from Lean workshops. She summarized her findings in a booklet and a database, now being used in the Wardenburg factory.
